1. PRE-CLEANSE

Before you get started, take two days BEFORE AND AFTER your cleanse to eat only the recommended foods below. This will help decrease your detox symptoms and help you ease into and out of the cleanse.

WARNING: CLEANSING MAY CAUSE DETOX SYMPTOMS!
Please be prepared to have detox symptoms. Symptoms may include: Headaches, nausea, vomiting, bad breathe, dizziness, fever, and other flu like symptoms. This is NORMAL and how your body releases the toxins it has stored up over the years. The worse the symptoms, the more you are detoxing. If the dates you choose for your cleanse are not suitable for detoxing, please contact Chef V IMMEDIATELY to reschedule your cleanse.

The best way to avoid detox symptoms (although sometimes no matter what, they are not avoidable) is to pre-cleanse for at least 2 days prior to Chef V’s Organic Cleanse. Take more days to pre-cleanse (at least 5) if you are a heavy coffee drinker, sugar addict, or just eat and drink really bad. Make sure to drink LOTS and LOTS of water the week before your cleanse (8 x 16 oz servings a day!) YOU MUST DRINK WATER FOR SUCCESS ON THE CLEANSE. One-week prior and one-week after drink 8 x 16 oz servings a day. Please stick to the list of foods below for your pre-cleanse (at least 2 days prior).

**If you must eat something during the cleanse, please stick to the list of approved foods for best results.

The more processed foods, coffee, and alcohol you have consumed in the past years, the more toxins your body has accumulated. When the body is full of toxins, inflammation occurs and we accumulate mucus and fat as a survival mechanism. So, jumping into Chef V’s Organic Cleanse too quickly can cause you to experience stronger detoxification symptoms, which may include headaches, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea. The Pre-Cleanse is an important step that maximizes your success during Chef V’s Organic Cleanse while helping to minimize detox symptoms. The list of foods is created to maximize your results so that no foods mix with anything on the cleanse that would take away from your cleansing experience.

2. CLEANSE

After two days of Pre-cleansing you are ready to begin your cleanse. Follow the schedule below.

Q. Is Chef V’s Cleanse Organic?

A.  Yes, Chef V’s Cleanse is made from 100% Organic Ingredients. We are proudly Certified Organic since 2014 from CCOF and the USDA in both our California and New Jersey Kitchens (certificates available upon request).

Q. Is it important to pre-cleanse?

A. Pre-cleansing is important to your success on any cleanse. The longer your pre and post cleanse, the more success and results you will see. Pre-cleansing helps your body set up for the process. Instead of shocking your system, you will slowly wean off of sugar, salt, alcohol, caffeine, or any other addictions/toxins you may be holding onto.

Q. How much sugar is in Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

Each 8 oz. serving of Chef V’s Organic Green Drink has only 3g of sugar. The sugar in the Green Drink is 100% natural and organic from apple. Chef V’s Organic Cleanse has only 24g of sugar per day. Compared to other juice cleanses, Suja Juice cleanse has over 180g of sugar per day! Blueprint has over 200g of sugar. To put that into comparison, a large thick frosting covered piece of cake has 50g of sugar in it. That means that a one day Blueprint cleanse is equivalent to eating 4 pieces of chocolate cake. Sugar is sugar, no matter where is comes from.

Q: I ordered the Green Drink Plan. What is that and does that come with my Organic Cleanse?

A.  If you signed up for the Green Drink Plan, your Green Drink delivery will start the week after your cleanse. This way you can incorporate Chef V’s Green Drink into your normal diet. Consuming the Green Drink before meals on an empty stomach will allow your body to absorb 7 super greens on a daily basis.

Q. Will I have regular bowel movements?

A. It is normal for some people to experience less frequent bowel movements because you are not consuming solid foods. Reduced input means reduced output. Your bowels should begin to move easily and more frequently after the Organic Cleanse, when you start consuming solid foods again. As long as you are urinating frequently everything is good. The frequent urination might seem annoying but this is how toxins leave the body. You are cleansing your vital organs; the kidney and the liver. You’re welcome!

Q. Will I have bad Headaches?

A. Typically caffeine drinkers have the worst headaches. For best results, pre cleanse for at least two days before you start (more if you are a heavier drinker) Chef V’s Organic Cleanse and cut coffee and caffeine out of your diet. If you get a headache that is typically your body’s way of detoxing, try to make it through, if it becomes unbearable, add hot green tea, but do NOT take any ‘medicine’ as the medicines are only temporary and are re-ingesting toxins into the system.

Q. Will I be hungry?

A. Chef V’s Organic Cleanse is designed so that you are eating and drinking all day. If you feel hungry this is completely normal and should pass as your body acclimates to consuming liquids only. Many times, the sensation we are feeling is not true hunger. It’s only the sensation to chew. The truth is, most of us can go days without solid food and be just fine. Usually, it is the feeling of an empty stomach or the ritual of eating at certain times that we mistake as hunger. Feeling light-headed or fatigued is normal for some people and does not mean that you are hungry but that you are detoxing toxins from your body. For most people the sensation to chew is really what you are missing. DO NOT CHEW GUM! If you have to, chew on ice.

Q. Does it really matter what order I drink the juices?

A. The order in which you consume your juices affects how you absorb, assimilate, and digest nutrients. Order is the MOST IMPORTANT! For example, when your stomach is empty first thing in the morning, it’s able to assimilate whatever you put in it much more than if you consumed something prior. That is why you always have my Green Drink first. You follow that with the protein shake to give you strength and energy. Because of the order and time of consumption, your body will absorb all of these great nutrients.

Q. Are there any side effects to cleansing?

A. Some people experience headaches, dizziness, fatigue, vomiting, bad breathe, and moodiness. This is completely normal and usually a sign that your body is detoxifying. As toxins exit the tissues and enter the bloodstream to be eliminated, you may actually feel like you are coming down with something. Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest and know that you will soon be feeling much better. Some people will pass through detox symptoms quickly and others will last the course of Chef V’s Cleanse. The real benefits will be apparent after this cleanse.

Q. Will I lose weight?

A. It is very common to lose weight on Chef V’s Organic Cleanse. Most people *lose up to 15lbs in 3 days, and up to 20lbs in  days! At ~700 calories per day, Chef V’s cleanse gives your body a chance to rest, digestion, and get to work on stored fat and undigested proteins in the GI tract. This promotes healthy metabolic function and elimination of built up toxins.

Q. Will I get enough protein?

A. Because I believe in a high protein diet, I have also added plant protein shakes to my Organic Cleanse to give you plenty of energy, protein and keep you satisfied and full! The protein is a Pea Protein and is a delicious nutty flavor (minus the nuts!)

Fresh blended Green Drink is a nutrient packed, highly digestible food filled with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, and antioxidants. You will receive adequate protein in the form of amino acids, which are abundant in plant foods. These building blocks are what the body seeks from protein once it is broken down. Green Drink and plant protein give your body a readily available source of amino acids without the work of breaking down a heavy animal protein source.

Q. How many calories are in Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. Depending on which cleanse you choose, Chef V’s Organic Cleanses have about 500-700 calories per day. Please remember that these calories are “good” calories with no additives, just raw organic produce. This is MORE than enough calories to sustain your body. Humans live on less then this EVERYDAY in other places in the world. Let them be your motivation during this SHORT period of time in your LONG life! You can do it!!!

Q. Can I cleanse if I am pregnant or nursing?

A. If you are on any medications please consult your doctor before cleansing. We do not recommend any medications or supplements while cleansing. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it is not recommended that you cleanse.

Q. Is it OK to exercise while cleansing?

A. Exercise supports the detox process by removing acids from your body. Do not do extreme exercise and do only MODERATE or LIGHT EXERCISE like yoga, light-weight training, and walking. AVOID boot camp, intense training, extreme sports, crossfit, spin class, marathons, hiking etc.

Q. What are detox symptoms? Will I get them?

A. During any cleanse, the body is essentially tearing down all of the “bad stuff” and rebuilding with new material. To make room for that new material, the “bad stuff” needs to leave; how it makes its exit is your potential crisis. For example: when the body eliminates coffee, symptoms usually include headaches, nervousness, and shakiness. When protein, meats, and fats are eliminated, you may experience skin eruptions, foul body odor, or a coated tongue. Vomiting is also a common way of releasing stored toxins, and again, this is you own undoing.

Q. Will a one-day cleanse do anything?

A. Yes. The benefits of a one-day cleanse, once a week are astronomical! This cleanse method has been an Eastern practice for centuries, used as a quick strategy to strengthen the immune system, sharpen mental clarity, and allow the body to “catch up.” Like yourself, your body needs a rest. After only one day of stopping solid food intake, enzymes stop visiting your stomach and instead travel into the bloodstream and intestines, where they get busy attacking all sorts of old waste matter, damaged cells, and pollutants. One day cleanses are available for delivery.

Q. How often should I do Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. A good rule of thumb is whenever you experience any of the following: fatigue/general lack of energy, sleeplessness, anxiety/depression, digestive problems, at the first sign of a cold and of course, before and after holidays or any special events that lead to overindulging. I recommend doing Chef V’s Organic Cleanse once a month for at least three days. This allows your body the proper rest and recovery time it needs to maintain optimum health. Make it a healthy habit – the immune system loves a consistent schedule. At least cleanse twice to four times a year to prevent illness, toxic build up, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and obesity.

Q: Can I do Chef V’s Organic Cleanse and eat food too?

A: The benefits of a cleanse will be lost if you eat solid food in addition to the Green Drink and products provided. The idea of a ‘cleanse’ is to only consume liquids so that your digestive system has time to rest. However, if you want to supplement your current diet with Chef V’s Organic Green Drink, it’s great for digestion and packed with vitamins and minerals.

Q: Can I drink Diet Coke or Coffee?

A: That’s a solid ‘No’! I don’t recommend it during a cleanse, and I actually don’t recommend Diet Coke ever. Try to drink water with lemon or herbal or green tea instead.

Q. What are some of the possible benefits that I should feel from doing Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. There should be MANY BENEFITS that you will enjoy. Among them should be increased ENERGY and STAMINA, increased mental CLARITY, better SLEEP, healthier hair and nails, and often people are in a better MOOD. You may also experience significant WEIGHT LOSS in a short period of time. You are cleansing your VITAL ORGANS (Heart, Liver, Kidney, Lungs and Brain) as well as your colon, pancreas, intestines, skin, blood stream, mouth and eyes.

Q. I’ve heard that our bodies naturally cleanse themselves. If this is true then why should I cleanse with Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. It’s true that our bodies do cleanse naturally. However by doing Chef V’s cleanse you not only give your body a break from all of the crap food that is out there but you give your body all organic nutrients in a balanced, clinically proven way to cleanse, detox and lose weight. We ingest so many toxins from food, alcohol, pollution, cleaning products, etc, that we need to give our bodies a break and help release the built up toxins.

Q. How will I feel on Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. Everyone is different. Depending on how many toxins your tissues are holding, reactions range from mild to non-existent to strong and relatively harsh. Detox symptoms include things like headaches, nausea, sweats, PMS-like symptoms, and more. As best you can, take a “this too shall pass” mindset and increase the water to flush the releasing toxic matter. You can also get fresh air, walk, move, and/or take a hot bath (Epsom salt bath helps to detox). If you are feeling detox symptoms, just take a moment to take it easy for a while.

Q. I don’t have much time, but I’d like to cleanse. Is it useful to do Chef V’s Cleanse for just one day?

A. Absolutely! One day can be very helpful. For some, a brief cleanse can be a confidence-building exercise that leads to more intensive cleanses. Others might add one day a week ongoing. It’s ALWAYS good to add more fresh, ripe, raw, organic, plant-based food and juices and if you only have 24 hours, you’ll still reap the benefits. One day cleanses are available for pick up or delivery.

Q. During this cleanse can I have seltzer or sparkling water? Gum? Tea?

A. I recommend NO! However, I understand that cleansing can be challenging and sometimes you just need a little something. The best option is to consume decaf herbal teas at night (After you have consumed your soup). I like chamomile tea. Gum is not recommended as it usually contains chemicals. Ice is ok to chew on. No sparkling or seltzer water is recommended.

Q. What do I eat when I finish Chef V’s Organic Cleanse?

A. The first meals out of your cleanse should be hydrating and light. Your digestive tract has been resting, so you don’t want to ruin what you worked so hard for and dump toxic food in your clean body. I suggest drinking Chef V’s Green Drink, the days after your cleanse, first thing in the morning followed by fresh fruit. You want to slowly ease it back into eating solid foods. Protein shakes are also good to ease into solid food. Blended smoothies, soups, and salads are all great choices. Re-introduce heavier proteins and higher fat foods slowly and one at a time over a couple days following your cleanse. Eat from the list of foods provided from your pre-cleanse. Q: What is the Green Drink Plan? How is it different than the Cleanse?

The weekly delivery is a supplement to your daily diet. It’s a great way to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and greens you need everyday. You get 16 oz a day to drink first thing in the morning or you can split it up. I suggest 8 oz first thing in the AM on an empty stomach, then 5 oz before lunch and dinner. Wait 15-30 minutes before consuming solid foods for maximum nutrient absorption.
The cleanse is different then the green drink because the cleanse is all you eat for 1, 3 or 5 days. The green drink should be consumed every day in addition to your diet. The benefits of having this drink every day include, suppressed hunger cravings (especially for bad sugary or salty foods), increased energy and weight loss.

Q: Hi Chef V, I was wondering do you Juice or Blend? And Why? I read that juicing spikes the blood sugar and I want to know more before I cleanse.

A. There are really 2 questions here: (1) Juicing vs Blending and (2) Fruits vs Vegetables.

Let me tackle the easy one first – Fruits vs Vegetables. When researching all the other cleanses and juices out there you’ll notice one HUGE difference between my Organic Green Drink and all the other fruit juices out there. Chef V’s Organic Green Drink is made with 90% Dark Leafy Green Vegetables and 10% Fruit while every other brand consists of nearly 100% Fruit Juice.

What does this mean? Well, look at the nutrition facts. My Green Drink has only 26 Calories and 3 Grams of Sugar per 8 ounce serving. Fruit juices like Blueprint and Suja have over 30 Grams of Sugar per 8 ounce serving. THAT’S MORE THAN A COCA-COLA!!!

When it comes to cleansing, I believe we should be cleansing with vegetables and less fruit.. Fruit juice cleanses like the Blueprint and Suja “Cleanse” have over 180 grams of sugar per day. My Organic Cleanse has ONLY 24 Grams of Sugar per day.

And remember! You are not Popeye Your body can’t absorb an INFINITE amount of nutrients. So many of the calories you consume through Fruit Juices actually get wasted and only end fattening you up.
Above all do some skeptical research about what’s really missing from your diet. Is it sugar and Vitamin C from fruit juice? Or is it beta-carotene, vitamin k, iron and other minerals that you get from Dark Leafy Greens?

I should note that in your research you will find out that Dark Leafy Greens will also give you all the Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, etc that you would need/get from fruit juice but without all the extra calories.

Now, on to the harder question… Juicing vs Blending. There is much debate about this but after my research (online, with my own body, and the thousands of clients who have succeeded) I’ve landed clearly on the side of BLENDING and here’s why:

  1. We need fiber in our diets. Juicing strips away all of the nutrient rich fibers. Not only do these fibers contain important nutrients, but because your body has to break them down, these fibers TURN ON your metabolism, remove waste, and help you LOSE FAT!
  2. Remember from above, you are not Popeye, you can’t absorb all the nutrients in that entire glass of fruit juice. Not even close! So many of the calories in fruit juices are wasted, which leads to weight gain. Blending lowers the sugar content. Also adding water to the blend helps your body easily absorb the nutrients.
  3. When juicing, the juice must be consumed within 30 minutes because all the nutrients have been stripped out of the fibers and will start depleting immediately. Because my Organic Green Drink is made from mostly blended vegetables it can last up to 1 week.
  4. Blending does not having any waste. Juicing produces a lot of waste and can be very messy.
I challenge you to let YOUR BODY decide. For 2 weeks, first thing when you wake every morning drink 16 oz of Fresh Fruit Juice and go about your day as normal.
