Meet Grace N.

Commenting on her Yelp profile, Grace N, a San Diego resident, described how she experienced a remarkable 10% reduction in her diabetes a1c levels after adding Chef V products to her lifestyle. The steep drop in Grace’s A1C levels came from a Chef V 21 Day Detox. The change in her A1C shifted her diagnosis of type II diabetes from diabetic to pre-diabetic. (Her A1C percentage dropped to 6.1 from 6.8). And the incredible thing was it only took about a month for the drop to happen. We hope she will keep us updated and wish her huge success!

To manage her diabetes, Grace decided to try something new.

To manage diabetes, some people prefer to dip a toe in the shallow end. For example, drinking one less regular soda per day. But Grace decided to cannonball in the deep end by doing Chef V’s 21 Day Detox Challenge. And it’s Chef V that Grace credits with helping her lose 15 pounds (and keeping it off well after finishing the 21 Day Challenge) and sharply lowering her a1c level. Now, we don’t necessarily recommend that if you have diabetes and need to get your blood sugar levels down you do what Grace did. But her story is worth sharing, we think, as it may provide inspiration for not only losing weight and managing diabetes, but also resetting your taste buds to better avoid temptation of high carb and high sugar foods and drinks. Here's what Grace says about her experience: “I finished the challenge about 3 weeks ago and wanted to wait to see if the results would last before I write a review,” says Grace on Yelp of Chef V. “And yes, it did! I lost a total of 15 lbs on the cleanse and after 3 weeks, my weight didn’t bounce back at all!!! Instead, I find myself craving more vegetables and fruits in my overall diet and actually enjoying the taste of them.” Grace continues, “I’ve NEVER done a cleanse before this one. My friends and coworkers thought I must be nuts to jump headfirst into a 21 day cleanse. But the experience was not bad at all….” As for Grace’s steep a1C drop, she says, “My family doctor was impressed! I haven’t increased my level of exercise or added new prescription meds, or done anything extra to control my glucose in the past 3 months, except for doing the 21 day challenge!!! SO THANK YOU Chef V for your amazing products! This is more than a diet, it’s a new lifestyle! We couldn’t have said it any better, Grace … you’re certainly very welcome. And thank you for posting the wonderful review.

Green Drink is the Healthy “Juice” for Diabetes

A staple of Chef V Cleanses (3, 5 and 7 days) and 21 Day Detox is 100% certified organic Green Drink. You can say that Green Drink is healthy juice for diabetes. Compared to most juices that are filled with sugar and contain no fiber (hello, Tropical Smoothie, we’re talking about you with your nearly 90 grams of sugar!), Green Drink contains only 3 grams of sugar. Chef V actually also offers a healthy tropical smoothie that contains only 6 grams of sugar. But if you’re trying to lower your a1c levels, stick with Green Drink. In general, veggie juice is healthier than 100% fruit juice because it’s lower in sugar. Green Drink is about 99% veggie juice, containing seven super healthy and purifying green veggies. Chef V’s recipe includes a tiny bit of organic Fuji apple to sweeten the Green Drink. Also, the veggies are cold-blended, not juiced, which preserves more of the beneficial nutrients. But let’s get back to Grace’s Yelp review of the 21 Day Challenge and learn how she did with drastically changing her diet….

Green Drinks for Diabetes: Helps Reset Your Taste Buds

The majority of restaurants Grace reviewed on Yelp specialize in serving huge portions of noodles. Take the Vietnamese Pho joint for example. A typical serving of pho noodle soup contains over 50 grams of net carbs. And unless you plan on running a marathon or lifting heavy weights after eating a hefty serving of noodles, those carbs will be stored as glucose in your fat tissue. Moreover, your blood sugar levels will be higher, resulting in your insulin becoming less effective at bringing your blood sugar levels down. And when do blood sugar levels rise the most? After eating a heavy meal like noodles and pasta. Grace used Chef V's Healthy Routine to wean herself off carb heavy meals. In her review, Grace says the most challenging thing for her with the 21 Day Detox was ditching coffee. Detox symptoms from coffee can be severe, especially if you don’t follow the precise pre-cleansing instructions, which Chef V expertly provides to all her customers. For a few days before the detox begins, this is the pre-cleansing period. This is when your health transformation begins. You’ll eliminate refined carbs (that means no Pho, pasta or other noodle dishes, no bagels, pastries, etc.). You’ll also have to ditch foods and drinks with added sugars, as well as alcohol and, to Grace’s dismay, coffee. During the cleanse or 21 Day Detox, you have 4 Green Drinks a day, 2 protein shakes and a detox soup for dinner. Other than that, you’re drinking lots of water. “The Green Drinks were delicious and very low in carb which was a definite plus for me since I have Type II Diabetes,” says Grace in her review, adding, “For the first 3 days, I felt tired, grumpy, and had a pretty bad headache due to caffeine withdrawal since I was used to having 3-4 cups of coffee a day. After that, the rest was more than manageable. I had more energy than before. I felt more alert and was able to actually concentrate better at work even without the coffee. My skin looks brighter and seems well hydrated (thanks probably to the atrocious amount of water I drank!).”

Healthy “Juice” For Diabetes: Worth Having To Pee A Lot!

In addition to the caffeine withdrawal headaches, the other hard part for Grace: peeing a lot. “I mean A LOT,” she says. “During the detox phase especially, everything that goes into your mouth is some form of a liquid. So you will experience the urge to urinate every hour. For me, since I have a tiny bladder to begin with, I was going to the restroom every half hour … but not a deal breaker. In fact, I kinda enjoyed the fact that I am getting rid of all that waste and toxin in my body.” As for Grace’s steep a1C drop, she says, “My family doctor was impressed! I haven't increased my level of exercise or added new prescription meds, or done anything extra to control my glucose in the past 3 months, except for doing the 21 day challenge!!! SO THANK YOU Chef V for your amazing products! This is more than a diet, it's a new lifestyle! We couldn’t have said it any better, Grace … you’re certainly very welcome. And thank you for posting the wonderful review.

Read Grace's Complete Yelp Review:

I just completed a 21 day cleanse challenge with Chef V and couldn't be happier. I finished the challenge about 3weeks ago and wanted to wait to see if the results would last before I write a review. And yes, it did! I lost a total of 15lbs on the cleanse and after 3weeks, my weight didn't bounce back at all!!! Instead, I find myself craving for more vegetables and fruits in my overall diet and actually enjoying the taste of them. I've NEVER done a cleanse before this one. My friends and coworkers thought I must be nuts to jump headfirst into a 21day cleanse. But the experience was not bad at all. In the first 2 days or the so called pre-cleanse period, you follow Chef V's instructions (list of approved food items) and begin eliminating refined carbs, sugars, coffee, and all the other junks in your diet. On day 3-5, that's the detox cleanse where you follow Chef V's cleanse instructions and your diet would consist of green drinks and protein shakes throughout various times of the day, a detox soup for dinner and TONS of water. From day 6-day14, you are on the healthy routine regimen. You drink the green juice 3x a day, 1 protein shake for breakfast, and again eat from a list of approved food from Chef V. On day 15-17, you are on the second round of detox. Day 18-21 follow the healthy routine regimen again. The green drinks were delicious and very low in carb which was a definite plus for me since I have Type II Diabetes. For the first 3 days, I felt tired, grumpy, and had a pretty bad headache due to caffeine withdrawal since I was used to having 3-4cups of coffee a day. After that, the rest was more than manageable. I had more energy than before. I felt more alert and was able to actually concentrate better at work even without the coffee. My skin looks brighter and seems well hydrated (thanks probably to the atrocious amount of water I drank!). The other hard part that I should mention is that you will be going to be peeing a lot. I mean A LOT. During the detox phase especially, since everything that goes into your mouth is some form of a liquid, you will experience the urge to urinate every hr. For me, since I am know to have a tiny bladder to begin with, I was going to the restroom every 30mins. It was a hassle, but not a deal breaker. In fact, I kinda enjoyed the fact that I am getting rid of all that waste and toxin in my body. The other thing that I have to credit Chef V's drinks for is my blood sugar. I just got my lab result back yesterday. And my A1C went from 6.8 to 6.1, the lowest it has ever been since I got diagnosed with Diabetes 2yrs ago. My family doctor was impressed!! I haven't increased my lvl of exercise or added new prescription meds, or done anything extra to control my glucose in the past 3 months, except for doing the 21day challenge!!! SO THANK YOU Chef V for your amazing products!. This is more than a diet, it's a new lifestyle!
